Great position but could really use some upgrading for the price. We stayed at Surfed Out for 2 and a half weeks in December 2024. 4 adults, 2 adults sharing a room and 2 adults in their own rooms. We paid in full approximately 2 months prior to arrival, including a deposit. The position of the house is perfect, but amenities were substandard. Here are the issues we encountered: • Drains in main bathroom blocked. • Taps in main bedroom bathroom hard to open and close. • Water pressure in 3rd bathroom low. • Towels provided for second and third bedrooms not sufficient (very small). • Gaps in the cornices in main and second bedrooms and lots of insects and things coming through. • Cockroach problem. • More curtains needed in second bedroom (morning light streams directly onto bed). • No curtain or blind on small window in main bedroom, so no privacy from the patio. • 3rd bedroom is fine for kids but not adults. • Beds are generally not comfortable, particularly in the 3rd bedroom. • Duvet in second bed substandard - lumpy and very cheap. • Only bed comforters provided for the third bedroom. A duvet was provided when requested. • Washing machine needs to be serviced, screeches when being used. • Internet kept dropping and was very slow. • House is generally very hot and could use more fans. • Loud fridge is in the 2nd bedroom with kitchenette, unpleasant to sleep with. • No mirrors in main bedroom nor 3rd bedroom. Overall, we did not feel that we received value for money at R6500/night in peak season, when the house rates are approximately R/night during the year. We really expected more, especially since we paid a huge premium to stay in December. The owner was very polite when we reported these concerns, but the amenities did not substantiate the cost.
